About Candidate

I hope to leave a positive mark in my community which is evident from my extensive experience working in the public sector, NHS and the care industry. I have gleaned great personal satisfaction from helping others on a one-to-one and farther-reaching basis; As a Visiting Officer for a government department, I successfully resolved complex issues for hundreds of individual vulnerable customers and improved the business reputation by acting as a trust-worthy face of the organisation willing to go the extra mile to reach the right outcome for the customer. As a Service Line Insight Lead with the Department for Work and Pensions,  I worked with colleagues of varying degrees of seniority across departments to bring together high-quality presentations highlighting areas where the business could improve its support of vulnerable customers. This led to process changes across various service lines, including improving support given to customers with complex needs during the review process of Universal Credit claims.

I have always been interested in technology, and became curious about coding. I decided to undertake some courses in my own time to see if software development was for me, starting with a short introductory course for Python in November 2022, leading onto a self-paced front-end development course with SheCodes. My interest and passion has only grown the more I have learned, culminating in me taking the leap to request a career-break to complete a software development bootcamp with Northcoders. After successfully graduating from the course, I am eager to grow my technical skills and start my first role as a software developer.
I am currently working on building a portfolio page to try out Next.js and Typescript, and after that I plan to build a mushroom identification mobile app aimed at foraging enthusiasts.
